Parking at Detroit Metro Airport is easier and more convenient than ever before. With an 11,500-space parking structure which opened adjacent to the McNamara Terminal / Northwest WorldGateway in February of 2002, the airport now has nearly 17,000 available on-airport parking spaces. Travelers have a variety of options tailored to meet their individual needs. Economy parking is offered in the airport's Big Blue Deck and Yellow Lot, and closer Long-Term and Short-Term Parking options are also available in designated areas.

Travelers will find the Big Blue Deck especially convenient for flights departing out of the L.C. Smith Terminal (Air Canada, Air Tran, American Airlines, America West, Frontier, Southwest, Spirit, United and US Airways). The Big Blue Deck is located adjacent to the L.C. Smith Terminal and offers covered parking spaces within walking distance of the Smith Terminal. There are approximately 6,500 parking spaces at the Smith and Berry Terminals.

The most convenient option for travelers departing from the McNamara Terminal (on Air France, British Airways, Comair, Continental, Delta, KLM, Lufthansa, Northwest Airlines and Royal Jordanian) is the McNamara Terminal Parking garage, which features covered Long-term, Short-term and Valet parking options, and is connected to the McNamara Terminal via an enclosed pedestrian bridge.

Free shuttle service from all of the airport's parking facilities to all terminals is also available.


The Economy section of the Big Blue Deck has 4100 Covered Parking Spaces and is within walking distance of the airport’s L.C. Smith Terminal. The Smith Terminal serves many airlines such as, Air Canada, America West, American, Frontier, Southwest, Spirit, United and US Airways. Free Shuttle rides to all terminals every 15-20 minutes.

Watch for designated $9 rate signs at the entrance lanes of the Economy portion of the Big Blue Deck.

The Yellow Economy Lot, at $9 per day, has 700 Parking Spaces within walking distance of the Berry Terminal, which serves Champion Air, USA 3000 and many charter flights. Free Shuttle rides to all terminals every 15-20 minutes.

Detroit Metro Airport is introducing a new breakthrough in airport parking technology... 1,2,3 Park... a new state-of-the-art, automated entry & exit system now makes on-airport parking even quicker and more convenient than ever before.

No more searching for misplaced parking stubs...and no need for cash... Simply insert your credit/debit card and go!  The system is automated and completely secure.  

1 - ENTER...by simply inserting your credit/debit card into the card reader at the lot entrance. 
2 - PARK...no ticket needed. 
3 - EXIT... by simply inserting the same credit/debit card when you leave the parking facility.  The 1,2,3 Park system computes your charges based upon your length of stay, charges your card, prints a receipt, and you're on your way.
